Description

Santa Ragione is an Italian game design studio founded by Pietro Righi Riva and Nicolò Tedeschi in 2010, creators of FOTONICA, MirrorMoon EP, Wheels of Aurelia, and Saturnalia. Santa Ragione’s games focus on achieving a visceral response from the player, whether through the desolate landscapes of MirrorMoon EP, the uncompromising, vertigo-inducing speeds of FOTONICA, or the controversial politics in Wheels of Aurelia. The studio has a unique, experimental approach to accessibility that encourages exploration and personal interpretation, to achieve depth. Santa Ragione's ambitions are to influence game design through new genres and to continue the tradition of Italian design.

History

Founded in 2010 by longtime friends Pietro Righi Riva and Nicolò Tedeschi, Santa Ragione is a design studio dedicated to developing games and video games. In 2010, Santa Ragione developed and published the board game Escape From The Aliens In Outer Space in over fifteen countries. The game was nominated for the prestigious Diana Jones Award for Excellence in Gaming. In 2011, Santa Ragione launched the award-winning video game FOTONICA for PC and created the international indie game event LUNARCADE. In 2012, Santa Ragione released a music game for Pitchfork Media; In 2013, they launched their new game MirrorMoon EP, finalist at the Independent Games Festival award for innovation. In 2014, Santa Ragione launched a redesigned version of FOTONICA for iOS to critical acclaim. In 2016 and 2017 Santa Ragione published their first narrative game Wheels of Aurelia across all platforms, including mobile and consoles. Since 2019, Santa Ragione is co-producing and publishing the work of up-and-coming Italian authors, such as Lorenzo Redaelli's Milky Way Prince – The Vampire Star. Saturnalia, a third person horror adventure, is releasing in 2022.
